L’objectif du laboratoire est de développer des thématiques de recherche en relation directe avec la préservation de l’environnement et le bienêtre de l’être vivant. La chimie verte, la biomasse, le recyclage, les matériaux innovants (argiles modifiées, biopolymères, nanobicomposites, catalyseurs verts, etc.), l’environnement et la biomédecine sont alors les principaux thèmes de recherche qui seront développés dans le LMCMA. Les activités de recherche seront réparties dans quatre projets :

Projet 1 : Synthèse verte et réactivité d’hétérocycles par catalyse homogène et hétérogène, Polymère et substances naturelles

Les objectifs de ce projet sont :

  1. La synthèse d’hétérocycles et leurs dérivés par catalyse homogène 
  2. La démonstration de la complémentarité entre les méthodes de modélisation moléculaire et les méthodes expérimentales.
  3. La synthèse et réactivité de polymères et co-polymères
  4. L’extraction de substances naturelles à partir de plantes médicinales tunisiennes et algériennes et espagnoles ayant des activités biologiques et industrielles en appliquant les procédés de la biomasse.

Projet 2 : Recyclage des déchets et économie circulaire.

Les objectifs spécifiques de ce projet sont :

  • La recherche de nouvelles alternatives de recyclages des déchets ménagers et industriels,
  • Le développement de matériaux écologiques et biodégradables.
  • L’étude technico économique de ces méthodes développées.
  • L’étude de la mise en œuvre et l’installation de ces prototypes
  • L’analyse de cycle de vie de produits développés et des impacts environnementaux.

Projet 3 : Nanocomposites à base de biomasse pour applications biomédicales et environnementales

Les objectifs de ce projet seront comme suit :

  • La biosynthèse de nanoparticules (NPs) semi-conductrices pures et dopées (II-VI), de NPs magnétiques ainsi que de nanocomposites à base de celles-ci.
  • L’étude des performances photocatalytiques des échantillons semi-conducteurs et des nanocomposites à base de ceux-ci contre la dégradation des colorants présents notamment dans les eaux usées industrielles
  • L’élaboration des nanobiocomposites à partir de NPs magnétiques et des extraits de la biomasse pour des applications essentiellement biomédicales 
  • La réduction des charges et espaces de stockage de la boue solide et liquide d’une industrie agroalimentaire
  • La valorisation de la boue solide en matériaux de construction et comme adsorbants écologiques
  • L’élaboration des composites pour le domaine de construction, à base des déchets végétaux, boue traitée et de matrices inorganiques (argile, gypse, chaux, ciment, etc.) dont les propriétés mécaniques, thermiques et phoniques sont améliorées
  • L’incorporation des déchets végétaux dans les produits de revêtements afin d’améliorer leur porosité et leur résistance thermique
  • La bio-fertilisation des zones de culture par des composites à base d’argile et des extraits de plantes
  • La préparation des adsorbants de molécules d’eau de l’atmosphère à base d’oxyde de graphène pour des fins de plantation dans les zones arides
  • La fabrication de produits détergents biodégradables économiques et multiusage à partir des déchets agro-alimentaires domestiques, hôteliers, et agro-industriels
  • La recherche d’une alternative visant à capturer réversiblement le CO2 par des complexes organo-métalliques MOFs préparés à partir des déchets et des aluminosilicates naturels (argiles) modifiés par des végétaux et nanomatériaux portant des fonctions chimiques hydroxyles et/ou amines en proportions optimales
  • L’extraction des nanocelluloses à partir de la biomasse et étude des propriétés des matériaux composites renforcés par la nanocellulose afin de développer des matériaux plus performants pour des applications variées, notamment l'automobile, l'aérospatiale et l'ingénierie des structures.
  • Le développement d’un nouveau procédé économe pour l’extraction de l’or basé sur l’utilisation des matériaux à partir des déchets agricoles et urbains.

Projet 4 : Argiles modifiées et matériaux hybrides résultants

Ce projet vise la valorisation les minéraux argileux et leurs hybrides résultants dans des domaines en adéquation avec les priorités nationales. Les objectifs fixés sont :

  • L’identification et la certification des gisements d’argiles à valeurs ajoutées.
  • La modification des argiles identifiées des gisements certifiés par plusieurs procédés (activation acide, activation basique, activation thermique, échange cationique, etc.)
  • La synthèse de nouveaux matériaux à base d’argiles (Argile acide, Zéolithe, Hydrotalcite, Argile pontée, Argile organophile, Membranes céramiques, géopolymères, Nanohybrides)
  • La valorisation des matériaux élaborés à base d’argile et de leurs hybrides dans plusieurs domaines à savoir :
    • Le traitement des effluents gazeux, solide et liquide
    • Les bâtiments et les travaux publics
    • La cosmétique, la pharmacologie et la médecine
    • L’agriculture
